BIOSPACE25
Nature FIRST will present at BioSpace25, the inaugural international conference dedicated to the application of Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS) across all dimensions of biodiversity. Taking place from February 10–14, 2025, at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy and organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with the European Commission, GEO BON, and CEOS, this event brings together experts to explore how Earth Observations can address critical biodiversity challenges across terrestrial, freshwater, coastal, and marine ecosystems.
IX European Congress of Mammalogy (ECM9)
The IX European Congress of Mammalogy (ECM9) takes place in Patras, Greece, from March 31 to April 4, 2025 and is organised by the Hellenic Zoological Society, the European Mammal Foundation, and Mammal Conservation Europe. This congress brings together experts and enthusiasts in mammalian biology to discuss topics ranging from genetics and evolution to conservation strategies and the impacts of climate change. Alexandra Sallay-Mosoi from WWF Romania, and participant of Nature FIRST will organise and chair the session "Translocation, Relocation and Rewilding”.
Deltas & Wetlands 2025
The 32nd International Symposium "Deltas and Wetlands" is taking place from May 12–17, 2025, in Tulcea, Romania. This event, organized by the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (DDNI), brings together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss the latest advancements in delta and wetland science. Attendees can participate in plenary sessions, thematic workshops, and a field trip into the Danube Delta, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Nature FIRST Final Conference
Join us on June 25-26, 2025, in The Netherlands for the concluding conference of Nature FIRST! This event will showcase the nature conservation tools developed throughout the project and examine collaborative solutions for human-wildlife coexistence. Attendees can look forward to interactive booths displaying outputs from the Nature FIRST project, engaging hands-on workshops within our core tracks, and matchmaking sessions to encourage partnerships.
Nature FIRST joins Tusnad Eco Bear Conference
Organized by the Project Bag Association and WWF Romania in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Băile Tușnad and supported by Nature FIRST from 22-23 October, the conference aims to address challenges of human-large carnivore coexistence. Practical solutions will be provided by a variety of international organisations and participants to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts in human-dominated landscapes and enhance our understanding of brown bear population management across Europe.
UN Biodiversity Conference 2024
Colombia will host the next United Nations Biodiversity Conference from October 21 to November 1, 2024. This conference will combine several important meetings, including COP 16, the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, and the Nagoya Protocol. It will feature a high-level ministerial segment.
EU Wildlife Forensic Conference
The Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic with Charles University in Prague (Environmental Forensic Sciences Centre) and the European Commission are organising a conference on wildlife forensic science on 11-12 September 2024 in Prague.
7th European Congress of Conservation Biology
The European Congress of Conservation Biology (ECCB) is a series of professional meetings organized by the Europe Section of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB). ECCB aims to facilitate the exchange of conservation science and nature conservation practice and policy to promote the conservation of biological diversity in Europe.
WORLD BIODIVERSITY FORUM: FROM SCIENCE TO ACTION

Environmental Crimes Workshop 2024
This workshop is a joint initiative of ESA and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission to foster a greater uptake of Earth Observation technology in environmental compliance assurance.
The communication titled "Guardians from Above: Leveraging Earth Observation to Combat Environmental Crimes - The Nature FIRST Experience," will highlight our current solutions developed, including also experiences of the use of remote sensing by law enforcement authorities in Slovakia and Spain.

B-CUBED HACKATHON: HACKING BIODIVERSITY DATA CUBES FOR POLICY
B-Cubed’s hackathon is planned as a 4-day event, bringing together biodiversity informaticians, researchers, and practitioners who are passionate about leveraging biodiversity data for impactful solutions. WORKSHOP EUROPABON: ESSENTIAL BIODIVERSITY VARIABLE WORKFLOWS
This workshop aims to bring together experts in the field of biodiversity monitoring, data collection, data integration and modelling to discuss and explore the existing, emerging, and potential future workflows for generating Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) and how they can be implemented at the European scale.
