DDNI PUBLISHES PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF BATHYMETRIC SURVEY ON THE DANUBE RIVER

Funded by the Nature FIRST project, Cristian Trifanov, Senior Researcher at the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development, has shared preliminary results of a bathymetric survey on the Nufăru habitat in the Danube River. The data informing 3D maps of the riverbed, soon available publicly on the EMODnet database, was collected with a sophisticated Geoaccoustics sonar system, the GeoSwath 4R. This research provides crucial insights into understanding sturgeon habitats, including feeding and spawning sites contributing to the project objectives of the DDNI within Nature FIRST to monitor sturgeon migration in the delta.
